Board approves five‑year child care leases at seven elementary sites; YMCA, Kids Country and AlphaBEST selected

The San Ramon Valley Unified School District board approved staff recommendations to enter into joint use agreements with child care providers at seven elementary school sites, authorizing staff to execute five‑year leases beginning July 1, 2026.
Assistant Superintendent Danny Hillman described the RFP process: the district solicited proposals, parent surveys informed site teams, and principals made final site recommendations. The vendor selections for each site were: Alamo — YMCA; Bella Vista — Kids Country; Creekside — AlphaBEST; Golden View — Kids Country; Quail Run — Kids Country; Rancho Romero — AlphaBEST; Twin Creeks — Kids Country. Hillman said the initial lease rate is $1.27 per square foot per month plus annual CPI adjustments.
Anton Sioko, executive director of Kids Country, addressed the board to thank staff for the process, expressed appreciation for being selected at multiple sites and acknowledged disappointment where his organization was not selected. "Although transitions are never easy, we fully support each school's thoughtful decision‑making process," Sioko said.
Trustees voted 4–0 to approve the joint use agreements and to authorize execution of the lease documents.
