Calexico Unified board ratifies teacher tentative agreement, approves multiple vendor contracts

At its meeting the Calexico Unified School District board ratified a tentative collective bargaining agreement with the Associate Calexico Teachers (ACT) and approved a slate of vendor contracts and governance items in unanimous votes.
President Avina moved to ratify the ACT tentative agreement covering salary schedule and disclosure for fiscal years 2025–2027; Trustee Contreras seconded the motion. The board voted 5–0 to ratify the agreement after the superintendent thanked negotiators for a collaborative process.
The board then approved a first amendment to an independent contractor agreement with MFW Washington to provide mobile car wash services for expanded learning vehicles, an agreement with Landmark Consultants, Inc. to serve as Laboratory of Record Services for the Measure Q site improvement project (Increment 1), and a purchase agreement with Touchpoint Industries for biometric scanning smart devices for various sites. Each item was moved, seconded and approved by unanimous roll-call vote.
Other approvals included the CSBA delegate assembly nomination for Subregion 18B, adoption of the district’s comprehensive safety plans, and a resolution declaring surplus non-asset technology equipment at Cesar Chavez Elementary. All action items were recorded as passing 5–0.

What’s next: Board-approved contracts will be implemented per their terms; staff will follow up on procurement and closeout procedures where applicable.
