"Our mission is to take people who are experiencing poverty from a place of dependency to self-sufficiency," Maynor said in comments to the board.
Brenda Wright Porter, a retired school nurse and Georgetown University nursing graduate who said she has served as president of the Essex County School Nurses Association and the New Jersey State School Nurses Association, thanked the board for the opportunity to serve. David Antonio, a longtime Essex County public-works official and chair/secretary on several regional planning bodies, told commissioners he brings operational experience in planning and field implementation for county infrastructure.
Commissioners voiced strong support for the nominees. The three nominations were moved together, seconded, and approved by roll call; absent commissioners were recorded. The board thanked the nominees for their willingness to serve and noted follow-up engagement on related agenda items will continue during the meeting.
The confirmations were part of a broader consent set of resolutions and appointments addressed early in the evening; each nominee will serve on the advisory board as specified by the county’s appointment process.
