The Saugus Union School District board approved a series of routine resolutions and business items on Oct. 21.
Roll‑call votes approved: recognition of National First Responders Day (Resolution 25-26-27), National Native American Heritage Month (Resolution 25-26-28) and a remembrance resolution honoring victims of the Nov. 14, 2019 William S. Hart Union High School shooting (Resolution 25-26-29); each resolution passed with recorded ayes.
The board approved a construction change order (Nolan Construction Services, change order #2) for the two‑story classroom building at James Foster Elementary (estimated additional cost discussed in open session) and declared certain district-owned property surplus. Trustees also approved the district's initial bargaining proposal to CSEA and reviewed the initial proposal between the district and the Saugus Teachers Association for 2026-27; the CSEA initial proposal was approved to commence negotiations.
Other items: the board adopted procedures for student attendance and health and safety policies (first readings), approved activity leader job descriptions and approved the 2026-27 district calendar for staff negotiation purposes.
