Fallbrook board welcomes three new administrators and plans impact‑aid advocacy

Hazel said the district will travel to Washington, D.C., to urge congressional support for full funding of federal "impact aid," which the district receives for military‑connected students, and for increased funding for IDEA, a federally mandated special‑education program. "We're going to Capitol Hill to do that," Hazel said, asking trustees and community members to join advocacy efforts.
The board welcomed the following administrators: a new assistant principal for Potter Junior High (introduced as Mrs. Soto), Allison Gunzelman as assistant principal at San Onofre (a district‑grown educator with a master’s in teaching and learning), and Michael Goodbody as principal on special assignment to support the Potter Math Transformation Program and STEAM innovation. The superintendent introduced each administrator and invited them to address the board briefly.
Allison Gunzelman said she was honored to continue her leadership in the district and thanked her parents in the audience. Goodbody outlined his background in biochemistry, educational leadership, and district STEAM coordination, and the board said it looked forward to his work securing partnerships and grant funding for student opportunities.
The introductions were part of a broader superintendent report that also noted back‑to‑school events, school visits, and reading initiatives.
