The board voted Sept. 9 to approve an increase to the contract with Converse Consultants for the softball field and weight-room project at Yucaipa High School and appointed Frederick Reyes as the project's inspector of record.
Board members discussed the need for additional work after unanticipated soil testing and a sinkhole required extra testing. "It is an addition. We had some testing that we were not anticipating that we had to do," a board official said during the item discussion. Board member Dannister moved the increase and Miss Cruz seconded; the motion passed.
The board also approved Frederick Reyes to serve as inspector of record for the project. Staff provided a progress update saying the electrical pull and transformer delivery remain, the bridge from bleachers is nearly complete, outfield soil prep and backstops are underway, and trees and shrubbery installation is imminent. Staff estimated final seal coating would occur on Oct. 6, a non-student day.
The board recorded the vote in the minutes and asked staff to continue updates to the board on schedule and completion.
