Board approves YCJUSD unaudited 202425 actuals; Amber Tavis reports $107M in revenue

Amber Tavis, director of business services, presented the district's unaudited actuals for 2024–25 and answered trustee questions before the board approved the report by roll call.

Tavis said the district recorded roughly $107,000,000 in unrestricted general fund revenues with approximately $106,000,000 in expenditures. She noted that about 95% of unrestricted revenue is the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) and that payroll and benefits made up about 73% of unrestricted expenditures. "The actuals are concrete numbers," Tavis said, adding that auditors will review figures and could adjust them during the formal audit process.

Tavis broke out targeted contributions: the general fund contributed roughly $11,000,000 to close special-education funding gaps (special-education total spending was described as higher, about $23,000,000, with the $11,000,000 figure representing the general-fund supplement). Maintenance and operations required contribution equaled about 3% of general fund expenditures (~$3,900,000).

She also noted five one-time categorical funds that expire in June 2026 and said the district will work with Educational Services to identify ongoing funding sources for programs now supported by expiring dollars. District average daily attendance (ADA) was reported at 92.12% overall, with Valley and Wildwood above 94%.

After the presentation the board moved to approve the unaudited actuals; the motion passed (roll-call; Chair voted aye). Tavis said auditors from CWDL will present the finalized audit in January.
