Rocklin Police Chief Rustin Banks told the Rocklin Unified School District board that e‑bikes and e‑scooters are producing more collisions around school commute times and that juveniles are disproportionately involved.
"Based on our current year‑to‑date data, we're on track to have 25 e‑bike related collisions by the end of the year," Chief Banks said, adding that a 2024 review of 17 e‑bike injury crashes involved juveniles in 13 cases and that 88% of those collisions were caused by bicyclists, often because of wrong‑way riding.
