Garfield High students named student of the month and NHS semifinalists

A teacher and advisors presented Hillary Peralta Trinidad as Student of the Month, highlighting her leadership in National Honor Society, student government and multiple extracurricular clubs. Hillary spoke briefly to thank teachers, family and friends for support.
Advisors also announced that Garfield High seniors Daya Musilari and Emilia Wallace were selected as semifinalists for the National Honor Society scholarship. According to the announcement, the pair are among 575 semifinalists chosen from nearly 16,000 applicants and "will each be receiving $3,200 from the National Honor Society Fund" in recognition of leadership and service.
Board members and administrators congratulated the students and noted the district display of student artwork and recent arts programming as part of positive highlights the board wanted to publicize.
