Students showcase robotics and Unified Sports at Murrieta Valley Unified board meeting

Thompson Robotics 'Team E' students, introduced by Thompson Principal Mr. De Leon and robotics teacher Ben Wallace, described building a VEX V5 competition robot (a third prototype), explained design and testing cycles, and noted regional competition experience: the team's VEX competition entry (competition number 25803B) placed 18th in its division in Southern California regionals. "We use three‑motion design… our intake picks up the scoring elements," student Tanner Domenico said as he walked the board through the robot's mechanisms.
Murrieta Mesa students and staff presented the Unified Sports Leadership Program, which they said brings students of all abilities together through lunchtime inclusion activities, a unified holiday performance, CIF flag football participation and a unified swim team. A presenter said the site had roughly 70 staff members participate in a popular staff bocce tournament and described a spirit week that raises disability‑awareness through daily themes.
Board members and the superintendent praised the presentations. President Pardue said he was "impressed, especially doing it in a different language" after the choir performance, and several trustees encouraged community members to attend unified events. The board recorded no public comment on these items.
