Community members urge Antioch Unified to spare long‑time campus safety coordinator

Michael Panesci, CSEA chapter 85 labor representative, said the district had bypassed progressive‑discipline steps and asked the board to consider alternatives and the more than 30 letters and a petition with over 60 signatures submitted on Jarvis' behalf.
Staff and parents described Jarvis as a de‑escalator and guardian who has kept students safe for two decades. Jarvis spoke briefly and apologized for a mistake she said she made on Sept. 19, asked for another chance and requested a transfer or a short suspension instead of termination.
The board said the closed‑session item was deferred in one reported share‑out, and staff indicated one action had been deferred consistent with Government Code requirements; the board directed the superintendent to provide notice to the affected employee as appropriate. The board did not take a public vote on termination at this meeting.
