Dr. Lagran described a multi-year partnership with Vimal Sadani and the Sadani Foundation that created a student invention competition to foster problem solving and collaboration. "We are proud to contribute to the STEAM invention competition with a grant of $10,000," Vimal Sadani said as he presented a check to the board and encouraged students to pursue state and national recognition. Dr. Lagran noted the district’s Next Tech Academy aligns with the competition’s goals.
Later in new business, a motion was made to approve grouped items A1–A10 (with A5 withdrawn), B1–B4 (B5 withdrawn), C1–C6 and P1, covering monthly reports, harassment and bullying decisions, district safety plans and assurances, donations, policies (first and second readings), warrants and payrolls, financial reports, contract approvals and field trip applications. The motion was made by a board member (mover recorded in the meeting) and seconded by Nancy; roll call approval followed. The board president stated she would abstain from items listed as A6 (a, b and c) because of employment with Somerset County.
The board also postponed recognition of the district’s substitute teacher of the year because the EDGES staff representative was not present. The meeting included student and superintendent reports and ended with board members exchanging holiday wishes.
