Vernon ISD adds district-wide writing goal under Lone Star Governance; first interim data due in January

During a Lone Star Governance review, staff told the board a new Writing goal (grades 3–12) was added as a targeted improvement area; two interim assessments will be administered and the first round of data will be presented at the January meeting.
At the Dec. 15 meeting, staff reviewed the district’s Lone Star Governance goals and told trustees the board had added a new, district-wide Writing goal covering grades 3–12 as a targeted improvement area. Sarah Swatzell reviewed current goals and performance percentages and said students will complete two interim assessments; data from the first interim will be presented to trustees at the January board meeting.
No formal action was taken on the governance report at the meeting; the review was informational and intended to set targets and measurement plans for the coming term.
