Seven Vernon High School students enrolled in dual-credit classes at Vernon College were recognized at the Vernon ISD board meeting on Dec. 15 for receiving the College Algebra for Academic Excellence Award. Paula Whitman, the students’ college professor, presented the recognition and named the honorees: Jeana Martinez, Klancy Sherrill, Brandon Juarez, Lily Beam Bowie Eakin, Rodrigo Olivas and Sriham Kadiyala.
Board President Emory Byars acknowledged the students’ achievement during the meeting. The recognition reflects students’ performance in a college-level course while still enrolled at Vernon High School; the district did not provide additional award details at the meeting.
