North Brunswick honors spelling-bee champions and Livingston Park ESL team

ELA Supervisor Kate Dwire introduced spelling-bee winners, saying Prithiv Balaji won the middle-school competition after 15 rounds and Druva Yarlagadda won the Linwood School contest after 22 rounds; Dwire also said the district will host the Middlesex County spelling bee at the middle school on March 14 (the competition was announced to begin about 10 a.m.).
"We are very fortunate that at both Linwood School and North Brunswick Township Middle School, we are able to run the Scripps National Spelling Bee Competitions," Kate Dwire told the board, and she congratulated the students who advanced through many rounds.
Separately, the board read a resolution commending Livingston Park Elementary School staff for organizing a Valentine's Day breakfast for ESL students and their families. A school administrator reported the event drew more than 100 parents; an ESL teacher thanked the board and the North Brunswick Township Education Association for support and named teammates who helped organize the event.
Board members praised the students and staff, and the president directed that the recognitions and resolutions be entered into the board’s permanent minutes.
