Central’s push to become a polytechnic draws mixed faculty reaction over speed and scope

Members debated whether the change is primarily a marketing rebrand or a substantive structural shift and urged clearer governance steps and assessments of transferability, curricular changes, and faculty hiring implications.
Several members suggested a phased implementation and stressed the need to protect liberal‑arts offerings and existing articulation agreements. FAC encouraged Central faculty to keep governance committees informed and recommended presenting a task‑force feasibility report to the BOR for review.
