Parent asks board to reinstate neighborhood bus stop for five elementary students; transportation department had denied request

Priyank Guell, a parent and Fairmount neighborhood resident, asked the board to reinstate a bus stop at Fairmount and Mount Pleasant to serve five elementary‑aged children. Guell said the stop previously existed, would require no route deviation, and would add less than a minute to travel time while improving safety and convenience for younger students.
"There are 5 elementary aged students who would directly benefit from restoring this stop," Guell said, urging the board to revisit transportation guidelines to allow reasonable flexibility when a stop lies on the bus route.
Administrators and the transportation department previously reviewed the request and denied it, the parent said; the written response attributed to the transportation review and to Doctor Huss concluded the present stop complies with board policy and state regulations and that the matter was closed. The board encouraged the parent to provide contact information to district staff for additional follow‑up. The board did not change the stop during the meeting.
Ending: District staff invited the parent to work with transportation and the superintendent’s office to explore options and review the policy; no reversal was made at the meeting.
