Paraprofessional Rona Hales honored as Middlesex County Educational Support Professional of the Year

The North Brunswick Township Board of Education recognized paraprofessional Rona Hales at its Dec. 10 meeting after she was named the 2026 Middlesex County Educational Support Professional (ESP) of the Year.
Superintendent Dr. Zukowski introduced Hales as an instructional aide at MBTHS who has supported students in the Possibilities program, helped manage daily lesson structure and assisted students with life skills and job placements. "There's no person more supportive than Rona; she's ubiquitous throughout North Brunswick," the superintendent said.
Beth Pazner, president of the North Brunswick Township Education Association, described Hales' responsibilities and volunteer work across multiple community organizations and the union. "Rona tirelessly advocates for the aides of North Brunswick," Pazner said, noting Hales' leadership roles and recent local honors.
Marcy Marks, Hales' supervisor, said Hales brings "professionalism, integrity and a genuine love for her students," and praised her ability to support students with challenging behaviors and to lead quietly when needed.
Hales accepted the recognition and thanked the board and her coworkers. She told the meeting she is scheduled to attend the NEA ESP national conference in Anaheim in March. A formal resolution recognizing Hales was read into the minutes and a copy will be provided to her.
