During the board’s annual reorganization, a motion to retain the existing configuration — described by a staff member as keeping “you, madam president, as president, Mister Young as vice president, and Mister Chavez as secretary” — was seconded and carried by roll call. The recorded votes were Jeff Lawson (no), Wendy Burns (yes), Albert Chavez (yes), Danny Young (no) and Linda Hudson (yes), giving the motion three votes in favor and two opposed.
The ballot came after initial nominations were opened and the board reviewed the duties of president, vice president and secretary as specified in district policy. Board members had an opportunity to discuss the roles before taking the roll call vote.
Board members did not take additional formal steps concerning officer duties; the meeting moved on to regular business after the vote.
