Auditor Michael reported an unmodified opinion and said the audit found no material weaknesses or reportable noncompliance. He said the agency closed FY24 recognizing a $17,000 deficit resulting from an indirect-rate timing adjustment but that the FY24 books showed a prior-year surplus that largely offsets that amount; unrestricted fund balance stood at $1,031,000 (about 20% of the proposed FY26 budget). Cash on hand was roughly $3.7 million, and the agency was approximately 52% of the way through year-to-date spending at the time of the report.
The meeting also recorded routine approvals: the board approved minutes and the financial report on voice votes.
Separately, the audit committee — which met before the board session — awarded a three-year audit services contract (with two one-year options) to King and King Associates after soliciting proposals and receiving a single submission. Committee members noted the award included a modest fee increase and said they chose to proceed rather than re-bid.
Board members said they would publish the audit report on the NVCOG website and noted the audit was only being received (no additional board action was required). The director said the appointment of the auditor by the audit committee will be documented in the meeting minutes.
