Boonton administrator: personnel search underway, water-treatment bids due, Old Jersey Plating testing planned

Town Administrator Neil Henry told the Boonton Town Council on March 23 that the town has reviewed resumes for the administrator position and expects interviews to begin next week as the search committee vets candidates. Henry said the administration is updating personnel policies with the goal of re-ratification by July 1, 2026, and preparing for the 2026 performance-review cycle.
Henry reported that bids for additional water-treatment chemicals and for sludge removal have been solicited and are due back next week. He said those procurements are in support of routine operations and water-quality management.
On an environmental matter, Henry said the town is coordinating with a licensed site-remediation professional to continue environmental testing at the Old Jersey Plating property. He reported plans to drill three test spots on Mechanic Street beginning around April 20, with the work expected to take about six to ten days and be coordinated with the police department for safety and traffic control.
Henry also said the town's OEM has completed a phase-1 assessment of damage and costs from winter storm Hernando and that county eligibility for reimbursement of some expenses is under review.
What council asked for next: Henry said he would confirm the length and scheduling details of tax-assessment visits after inquiries from residents; planners were asked to confirm ADA/accessibility requirements for specific Round 4 housing projects.
