Board members praised the winning design and the contest: there were 10 submissions and trustees highlighted the logo—s layered details and community connection. Trustee Rochelle said she appreciated the nuance in the artwork, and other trustees encouraged residents to support local designers.
Community response and condolences: Several board members used their reports to address recent tragedies in the village. Village staff member Dan said staff hearts have been "broken the last week for the two tragedies that we endured in the community" and praised police and public works for their response. President Kaufman requested a moment of silence for homicide victim Ashley Stewart and the Fitzmaurice family affected by a house explosion, and he highlighted the rapid response in a homicide investigation, noting that officers moved from a 911 call to having a suspect in custody in about 27 minutes.
Next steps and community outreach: Kaufman said he invited Kendall County Sheriff Bobby Richardson and Oswego Police Department commanders to a forthcoming community meeting to answer questions about recent incidents. Trustees also encouraged residents to use local support services and community fundraisers previously posted by the board.
