Paula Tamburo of Palisade Avenue said the removal of resident parking left her block short of spaces during recent storms and described difficulty traveling and finding parking amid heavy snow. She said she had sought contact with city officials and recounted a personal disagreement about outreach; the council acknowledged her concerns and urged continuing the conversation outside the meeting. Tamburo also said the police department had approved a handicapped parking space for her after she supplied proof; several council members said they wanted to see the application packet (with personal medical information redacted) before future votes.
Council discussion earlier in the meeting had returned a previously denied handicapped‑parking resolution to the agenda; after members reviewed procedures and requested copies of application backup materials, the council voted to approve the parking space. A council member noted that while the police department recommends individual parking spaces, the council has the right to review the supporting paperwork. The mayor and others asked staff to provide application packets (excluding medical records) to council members going forward.
Other residents praised the Department of Public Works for rapid snow response and supported a proposed second splash park at 20th Century Field to provide a low‑cost recreation option for children.
The council affirmed plans for targeted snow removal around school zones and encouraged residents to sign up for the city alert messaging system for updates on operations.
