Mike Rivas, village manager for the Village of Villa Park, said he inspected a large pothole on Iowa Street near Stone after receiving an email from a concerned resident and forwarded the report to Public Works to schedule repairs.
Rivas said the pothole is causing visible vehicle damage. "We received a an email from a concerned citizen about potholes," he said, adding, "what I did is I forwarded that email out to public works" so crews could fit the repair into their schedules.
The manager linked the recent increase in potholes to winter conditions, saying crews are "very busy, from the snow and ice," and that scraping to clear roadways contributes to the formation of large potholes. "They're fixing potholes all across town," he said.
Rivas said he would follow up with Public Works about timing. "I'll be reaching out to Public Works to see when they can get this on their schedule," he said, and asked residents for patience while crews respond to multiple winter-related road repairs.
The update was a brief on-the-scene notification rather than a formal agenda item; Rivas closed by thanking residents for their patience and encouraging them to enjoy the mild weather.
