Oswego board hires Lakota Group to finish comprehensive-plan update, $173,752 contract approved

The Village of Oswego board voted July 15 to authorize a $173,752 professional-services agreement with Lakota Group to complete the village9s comprehensive-plan update.
Rod (staff) told trustees the previous consultant contract was ended after a change in direction and that Lakota was chosen from prior applicants; Lakota's president, Scott Ferris, said his firm will emphasize outreach by attending festivals, parades and other community events rather than relying solely on open houses.
Ferris said Lakota has worked in neighboring communities and will bring a mix of in-person outreach, focus groups and online tools to accelerate the project and "catch up" to where the village left off. Trustees praised the outreach approach and suggested coordinating the plan process with upcoming village events such as the Sunday market and Panther Fest.
The resolution authorizing the agreement passed by roll call. Staff said some previous subcontract work (economic analysis from SB Friedman) will carry forward into the Lakota contract, producing cost savings and continuity for elements of the study.
