Planner Rod summarized the request as an indoor bar area connected to a fenced 2,700-square-foot outdoor play area. The outdoor area will be enclosed with an aluminum fence up to 6 feet high and will use astroturf or a combination of astroturf and grass. Planning staff emphasized that dogs will not be permitted in the outdoor play area without their owners present on the premises.
Rod told the board the Planning and Zoning Commission reviewed the application on June 5 and recommended approval by a 6-0 vote. The board then moved to adopt an ordinance granting the special-use permit; the motion passed on a roll call vote.
President Coffman congratulated the petitioner and noted that staff will oversee permit compliance and any building or operational permits required before the business opens.
Next steps: the applicant must secure required building permits and follow any conditions listed in the approved special-use ordinance prior to opening to the public.
