The Village of Oswego's board approved two honorary street resolutions and recognized Purcell Ace Hardware at Tuesday's meeting.
Trustees voted to designate North Madison Street in the name of James Detzler and Polk Street in the name of Ralph Ross. Family members and members of the Historic Preservation Society were invited forward for photos. A family member said, "This is a great honor to my grandpa." Both resolutions passed by roll call.
Separately, the board congratulated Purcell Ace Hardware as the October business of the month. Chair highlighted the store's more than 50-year history and community contributions; John Purcell, introduced as mayor of Yorkville and owner of Purcell Ace Hardware, accepted the recognition and thanked the village.
These ceremonial items were presented at the start of the meeting before the public forum and the later, more substantive discussion about redevelopment of the former Traubler Junior High site.
