Oswego approves $40,000 downtown grant to La Marimba for façade and patio upgrades

Oswego — The village approved a $40,000 reimbursable economic development grant to La Marimba Restaurants LLC on Tuesday to help pay for façade, entrance and patio renovations at 65 West Washington.
Kevin, the village economic development presenter, told trustees the restaurant is in the middle of an approximately $120,000 renovation and asked the board to approve up to half of an $80,000 next phase of work. Owner Luis Prado described planned improvements including a glass garage‑style door opening to a patio, a solid roof over the outdoor seating area to increase usable months, new front stairs and upgraded windows and signage.
The agreement is reimbursement‑based: the applicant must submit paid invoices for completed work before the village reimburses up to the approved amount. Trustees asked about signage materials and whether the patio roof would be solid; Prado confirmed a solid roof is planned and that the upgraded garage door will enhance the restaurant’s street presence.
The board approved the incentive agreement by roll call.
What’s next: La Marimba will proceed with renovation as weather and permits allow and submit invoices for reimbursement under the village’s economic development incentive agreement.
