The board unanimously approved a proclamation recognizing the Rotary Pet Parade as a long-standing Winchester event and declaring the third Saturday in May as Rotary Pet Parade Day.
Rotary representatives described an 88‑year history for the parade, school poster contests, bilingual outreach and plans to boost participation after several years of declining turnout. "We're not about ready to give this up after 88 years," one presenter said, and the board offered logistical and social-media support.
The proclamation invites residents to celebrate and participate and will be executed with the town seal as part of the mayor’s office and the selectmen’s endorsement. Rotary and staff will coordinate promotional efforts and a possible photo opportunity with the board.
