Richland School District honors state-champion basketball team and girls wrestling champion

The Richland School Board opened its meeting by honoring student-athletes and coaches behind two state championships at Richland High School.
Coaches and players attended to share brief reflections on the seasons. Assistant coach Samantha Dufo described the girls wrestling program’s support network and praised Savannah Clark, whom Dufo called “one of the most selfless, heartfelt individuals” and noted Clark’s academic success while enrolled in Running Start at CBC. Clark, the individual girls wrestling state champion, thanked coaches, teammates and family and said she is considering college and possible emergency-services career paths while keeping other options open.
Earl Stryford and Bruce Robertson — coaches for the boys team — were introduced to acknowledge the Bombers’ undefeated 28-0 season and 4A state championship. Head coach recognition and a community celebration were noted; the board invited the teams to a community event the following night.
Board members and district leaders praised the students for athletic and academic accomplishments, and the meeting moved on to routine business.
The recognition was ceremonial; no board action regarding the programs was taken at the meeting.
