Municipal Services Committee approves parking changes, small contracts and upgrades

The committee approved awarding ongoing illicit‑discharge detection and elimination field‑screening services to Westwood Professional Services Inc. for an amount not to exceed $35,000. Deputy Director Newburger described the work as routine and required by the city’s MS4 permit, adding, “We do about one third of the city's outfalls on an annual rotating basis.”

The committee also approved amendment No. 1 with Traffic and Parking Control Company (TABCO) to add $67,000 for ramp access upgrades, for a new not‑to‑exceed total of $288,209. Parking utility manager Hillary Patterman said newer kiosk technology will simplify future installs and reduce retrofitting, explaining that the new kiosks “will be able to pull the old ones out and insert the new ones and be able to function,” and that installations “will go much cleaner” than retrofitting older units.
