Council members used the Jan. 5 reorganizational meeting to confirm leadership and make routine municipal appointments for 2026.
Suzanne Lovasolo was nominated and confirmed as council president for 2026 after a motion and second. The motion passed by roll call with each councilmember voting in favor during the reorganizational proceedings.
The council confirmed standing-committee assignments largely unchanged from 2025, and appointed Greg Anderson as fire chief and Kevin Todd as the borough’s fire official; both were sworn in at later dates announced by the clerk.
Ordinance 26-01, amending chapter 53 of the borough code to fix salaries, wages and compensation for borough officers and employees for 2026, was introduced on first reading. The clerk said Ordinance 26-01 will be published in the Jan. 9, 2026 edition of The Record and scheduled for final consideration at the Feb. 5, 2026 Mayor and Council meeting at 7 p.m.
Votes on routine resolutions and consent-agenda items were recorded by roll call and carried unanimously.
Ending: Council members exchanged New Year’s congratulations and the meeting adjourned after no public comments were offered.
