Oswego board approves special-use permit for Ogden Falls Lake Michigan water receiving station

The Village of Oswego board approved an ordinance granting a special-use permit for a Lake Michigan water receiving station at 378 Ogden Falls Boulevard as part of the village’s Lake Michigan water project.
Planner Rod described three physical improvements: a 75-foot-diameter, 35-foot-tall ground-level storage tank to receive Lake Michigan water, a pumping station to convey water into village towers and a monitoring/metering station for DuPage Water. Rod said the plan commission reviewed the project July 10 and recommended approval 7–0.
Rod said the site will include brick-accented buildings with metal roofs, perimeter landscaping and a decorative aluminum fence. He told trustees the facilities will be set back from homes, separated in part by a large ComEd easement, and that neighboring property owners were notified; no one spoke at plan commission.
Trustees asked about visibility and buffering; Rod said the receiving station will sit behind the water tower and Kickers Club and include landscaping and fencing to mitigate views from residences.
By roll call the board approved the special-use permit; conditions or construction timing beyond the plan details presented were not specified during the meeting.
