Summary
At its March 24 meeting the Methacton board recognized Spirit of Methacton award recipients from Skyview Elementary and honored winter sports teams — cheer, boys swim and wrestling — with coaches and students highlighted for championships, records and community contributions.
The Methacton School District board honored staff, volunteers and students during the March 24 meeting with Spirit of Methacton awards and recognition for winter athletics.
Dr. Zerbe introduced Skyview Upper Elementary principal Dr. Bridal, who presented Spirit of Methacton awards to staff and volunteers for modeling the district’s nine core values. Honorees included Elma Numerado (Skyview physical education teacher), Kristen Brun (fifth‑grade teacher), Janet Bowers (main office staff, retiring after 24 years), Mary Ann Reisch (student support specialist), parent volunteers Brianna Waltz and Claire Evans, and students Elena Cruts and Anna Larkin.
Athletics recognitions followed. Director of Athletics Miss Parker introduced Dina Allison, who celebrated the varsity cheer team’s third consecutive PAC conference championship, a season that included travel to a national tournament. Head coach Sarah Stevens highlighted the boys swim team’s successful season — a Pack championship, a 9–1 record, district qualifiers, multiple individual all‑conference recognitions and several program records broken by swimmers including Jason Phan, Kelly Sommer, Luca Petrillo, Davis Reese and Jacob Roberts.
Assistant coach Mike Springer and coach Harner praised wrestler Ali Vidal’s Pac 10 title, describing his preparation, confidence work and steady improvement that contributed to the championship performance.
Why it matters: The recognitions spotlight student achievement, staff commitment and community volunteerism. Board meetings that include such acknowledgments give public visibility to programs, coaches and volunteers that contribute to student experience.
Direct quote: "He's got it in him — Ali Vidal, 139 pound, 2026 Pac 10 champ," assistant coach Mike Springer said, describing the athlete’s mental preparation and success.
The board thanked students and families and invited them to remain for the remainder of the meeting.
