The Sayreville Zoning Board of Adjustment approved a variance that allows homeowners to enclose a small foyer at 45 Roosevelt Boulevard, noting the foyer is part of a larger renovation package the homeowners will return to present in full.
During the March 25 meeting the homeowners described the 6-by-9-foot enclosed foyer as a mudroom to prevent tracking mud, dirt and snow into the main living area. One homeowner, who spelled her first name in the record as “Dagmara,” said, “We just bought a property, very nice property. We love it,” and asked for the limited variance to add the enclosed entry.
Board members confirmed the feature is an enclosed foyer rather than an open porch and verified its dimensions. A member observed the submitted plans also show a second story and a new garage; the homeowners said those elements will be returned to the board for separate review and that the foyer is the single item for which they currently seek relief.
With no members of the public speaking on the application, the board moved and a second was received; the roll-call vote recorded affirmative responses and the chair announced the application approved. The chair told the applicants they would not need to return for the memorialization of the vote.
The board’s approval is limited to the foyer variance as presented; any later work on the second story or garage will require subsequent applications and board review.
