The Norwich Planning Commission opened a public hearing on March 17 for Special Permit 26-01401, an application to allow an auto repair facility (Crash Champions Collision Repair) at 401 West Main.
Applicant representative Tarek Maharin of Core States Group presented a conceptual site plan and Google Earth imagery showing the property at the Highway 82/West Main corridor and described a proposed 15,000-square-foot building, two access points with one-way circulation, parking including ADA spaces and a rear storage area for vehicles awaiting repair. He said the team has been trading comments with Connecticut DOT and city staff and expects to resubmit revised civil plans next week.
No members of the public raised questions during the hearing. Commission members had no substantive objections but indicated they needed the applicant to respond to outstanding comments. The commission voted to continue the public hearing to April 21 at 7:00 p.m. so the applicant can address DOT and staff comments.
The continuation means no formal decision was reached on the special permit at the March 17 meeting; the applicant indicated a preference to return next month after resubmission.
