The council voted to authorize contracting for the preparation of several master-plan elements, including a resiliency (green) element, historic-preservation plan, and environmental sustainability provisions. Council Chair Anthony Carter said the borough will engage liaisons from affected committees to ensure public engagement and detailed review as the master plan is updated.
Engineering staff also reported a DCA grant award of $82,000 to support Phase 2 improvements at Forest Road Park, which will be used for green-space improvements. The engineering update noted that Glenwood and Rainier curb and sidewalk work is resuming, carriage-house renovations are slated to begin in mid-May and site-permit issues for the library are nearly resolved.
Council members emphasized the long-term importance of the master plan (last fully updated in 1998) and said the new work will guide policy for the next decade. The resolutions authorizing contracting and accepting grant awards passed by council vote.
