Boulder City Liquor Board approves Wurstfest special-event liquor license; member abstains

At a Zoom meeting, the Boulder City Business License Liquor Board approved a Class G special-event liquor license for the Boulder City Sunrise Rotary’s annual Wurstfest, authorizing on-site alcohol service for the Sept. 27, 2025 festival at Wilbur Square and Bicentennial Park.

The board heard a brief presentation from the city’s utility billing operations manager, who said the Sunrise Rotary had applied for the license and that the event is an annual, local nonprofit festival. The manager told the board the event would include food, music, a car show and entertainment, and that organizers plan to locate a beer truck on Colorado Street that would serve beer and margaritas and meet the eligibility requirements in the Boulder City Code.

A board member disclosed a potential conflict before the vote. “I’d like to disclose, pursuant to NRS 281A, that I am a member of Sunrise Rotary and am co-chair for the Wurstfest event,” the board member said, adding they serve in that role without compensation and would abstain from the item.

Following the disclosure, a board member moved to approve the special-event liquor license and the chair seconded. The chair called the vote and announced the motion carried; the abstention from the disclosed member was placed on the record.

Earlier in the meeting the board also moved to approve the minutes from its Aug. 6, 2025 meeting; that motion passed with the chair announcing unanimous approval. The board opened a second public comment period, received no public testimony, and adjourned the meeting.

Officials did not provide a roll-call tally for the liquor-license vote in the transcript beyond the abstention; the meeting record shows the motion carried and the abstention was noted.
