The Fanwood borough council on March 20 approved a set of routine resolutions and contract awards addressing personnel benefits, infrastructure grants and capital maintenance.
Among the votes, the council authorized a change in the employee assistance program vendor after a buyout of the prior vendor; established interest rates and grace periods for tax collection for calendar year 2023; and reappointed the borough’s affordable housing attorney for 2023.
Council approved appointing a TV and video production company for borough recordings and moved to submit a Union County infrastructure grant application for sewer lining on segments of Robin Road, Willoughby Court, 2nd Street and Oak Court. Councilors corrected a typographical reference to South Avenue in the grant’s whereas clause and approved an amended application.
The borough authorized purchase of decorative signage for the new Family Memorial Library construction fence and awarded a contract for the Carriage House roof project; council members noted the low bid came in under the original budget and that painting was added to the scope.
On public safety equipment, the council approved a two-year purchase and cloud-storage contract with Axon Enterprise for body-worn cameras, software and support for the police department at a total of $30,003.15; members discussed camera equipment, cloud storage and legal retention obligations for footage.
Council also authorized contract work to improve the Fanwood Nature Center (two bridges and stone-dust pads). Members discussed grant match and whether to draw from existing capital or open-space funds and noted a supplemental grant application had been filed to reduce use of the open-space balance.
All of the listed resolutions and contract awards were moved, seconded and carried by roll call votes during the meeting.
