Summary
Dennis Lee told a Nebraska Senate committee he was reappointed by Governor Pillen and detailed his long tenure on the Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commission, his legal practice, and his industry experience dating to the 1970s.
Dennis Lee told a Nebraska Senate committee that Governor Pete Pillen reappointed him to the Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commission and that he has served on the commission since his initial appointment by Governor Orr on Oct. 4, 1988.
Lee, who identified himself as an Omaha attorney specializing in estate planning and probate, said he has been reappointed each term and that the commission’s terms were extended from three to four years during his tenure. "I'm here today because governor Pillen has reappointed me to the Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commission," Lee said during his introduction.
Lee described decades of work in the racing industry, beginning with jobs while he was in high school around 1972. He said his involvement included work with racetracks, breeders, jockeys and other industry participants and that serving on the commission is his way of "giving back to an industry that gave so much to me over the years." He declined to offer a closing statement when asked and the committee thanked him for appearing.
The committee did not take a formal vote during the hearing; Lee’s reappointment was offered as the reason for the appearance and senators questioned him on industry trends and regulatory issues. The hearing concluded after senators thanked Lee for his testimony.
