Franklin Township recognizes firefighters, students and Eagle Scouts at council meeting

Franklin Township’s council opened the March 24 meeting with a series of proclamations and commendations.
Councilman Vasanella read a proclamation commemorating the 20th anniversary of volunteer firefighter Kevin Appuzio’s death and designated April 11, 2026 as Kevin Appuzio Day; the East Franklin Fire Department chief accepted the proclamation and thanked the council.
The council also formally recognized students from Cedar Hill Preparatory School for regional and national academic achievements, including a regional Scripps spelling bee champion and teams qualifying for national competitions, and presented proclamations to two young men who earned the rank of Eagle Scout for their service projects.
The council invited the students and scouts to the dais, presented certificates and gave speakers an opportunity to thank the council and their families. The mayor asked that residents feel welcome to depart if they had come only for the proclamations; the meeting then continued into its business agenda.
