New Lenox recognizes National Athletic Training Month; local head trainer thanks community

The Village of New Lenox issued a proclamation recognizing March 2026 as National Athletic Training Month and honored local athletic trainers for their role in youth sports safety and recovery.
A presenting board member invited athletic trainers to the podium and introduced Abe Alrami, who identified himself as head athletic trainer at Lincoln Way West High School and said he has worked in New Lenox for eight years. "The fact that the community members in New Lenox trust us to work with their kids is the only reason we can provide such high quality care," Alrami said, thanking parents, coaches and school staff.
Alrami outlined athletic trainers’ responsibilities, noting they evaluate injuries on-site, oversee emergency and concussion protocols, prioritize long-term health over short-term return-to-play pressure, and coordinate care among physicians, parents and coaches. Board members and several trustees thanked trainers for their work and for supporting youth athletes; staff noted the proclamation and offered appreciation on behalf of the community.
The board then closed the proclamation item and moved to the next business item on the agenda.
