New Lenox board adopts amended boundary agreement with Manhattan

The Village of New Lenox board held a public hearing and subsequently approved a resolution to extend and modify an intergovernmental boundary agreement with the village of Manhattan.
Robin, a village staff member, explained the amendment updates a 2005 boundary agreement whose 20-year term had expired. The adjustment moves a small area from Manhattan to New Lenox, creating a more logical eastern boundary line. Robin said the 2005 agreement included special provisions on impact fees and densities in the Delaney–Baker area; those provisions were removed so each municipality may apply its ordinances and comprehensive plans in that area.
Manhattan held its public hearing the previous week; no public speakers addressed the agreement at the New Lenox hearing. The board later approved a resolution authorizing the revised agreement by roll-call vote (motion by Trustee Reiser; second by Trustee Scalise). The village clerk certified notice and staff said the change will allow New Lenox to apply its standards in the redrawn area.
