Summary
Economic Development Director Rochelle Dennis announced the 'Taste of Forest Park' event April 3 at Bill Lee Park, a Cherry Street six-home unveiling April 17, and the city's participation in a Georgia Initiative for Community housing assessment orientation April 14–16.
Rochelle Dennis, director of Forest Park's Office of Economic Development, said the department is kicking off its event season with "Taste of Forest Park" on Friday, April 3 at Bill Lee Park — a partnership with Food Truck Friday that will include food trucks, home cooks, sample tastings and a recipe-exchange area for residents.
Dennis also announced an unveiling on April 17 for a new Cherry Street subdivision of six ground-up homes adjacent to Star Park; renderings and interior walkthroughs will be available. "You will also have the opportunity to see renderings and also be able to take a peek inside these absolutely magnificent and beautiful homes that are being constructed right here in the city of Forest Park," she said.
The city is also participating in a Georgia Initiative for Community (GIC) housing-assessment process. Dennis said she and the interim director, along with four members of the GIC team, will travel April 14–16 for orientation in Tifton, Ga., as part of a three-year strategy to assess housing in Forest Park.
Dennis listed additional business-focused programming: a Forest Park Business Association meeting on April 22 with a U.S. Small Business Administration keynote and a ribbon-cutting April 30 for a new business on Forest Parkway in partnership with the Clayton County Chamber of Commerce. Details for events and participation were posted on the table materials and on the city website.
