At its Sept. 17 meeting, the Romeoville Village Board approved a set of ordinances and resolutions including an amendment to the Class D liquor license rules, a license agreement to store training vehicles with Heidelberg Materials Midwest, and a contract arrangement for electric vehicle (EV) chargers to be installed with assistance from grants and utility incentives.
Village attorney Mr. Vogel described Ordinance 25-20-09 as a “small adjustment” to Class D liquor licenses that would permit wine sales where previously only beer was allowed, with limits that alcohol sales may account for no more than 25% of a licensee’s revenue; the ordinance also would prohibit those licensees from obtaining gaming endorsements and make one amended license available in response to an application from Lifetime Fitness. The board expressed no substantive questions during the presentation.
Staff member Chris explained the resolution to waive bidding and enter an agreement with Veterans Energy Team to install EV chargers at Village Hall and potentially at the Metro station. Chris said incentives from ComEd and grant funding would allow the vendor to provide equipment “basically at no charge to the village” and that the village would authorize approximately $118,000 for five years of maintenance on the larger dual chargers, noting placement and ComEd interconnection details were still being finalized. Mayor Noak thanked state Senator Rachel Ventura for assistance with funding that made the project possible.
Mr. Vogel described a separate, straightforward license agreement with Heidelberg Materials Midwest to allow the fire department to store wrecked or operable vehicles offsite for training exercises.
The board approved the consent agenda by roll call. Items listed in the consent agenda that were approved included minutes for the Sept. 3 meeting, multiple bill schedules, several ordinances amending tax-increment redevelopment plan areas for Norbertown/Webber Road, and resolutions waiving formal bidding to authorize purchases and services (including network equipment purchases, Comcast network services, ESRI GIS software licensing, acceptance of public improvements for Kitty County, a telecom services contract, purchase of a 2026 Chevrolet Traverse through Curry Motors, and a GRAMA agreement with the Romeoville Area Chamber of Commerce). The motions were moved and seconded and recorded as 'Aye' by trustees present; the chair stated the motions carried.
The meeting also included proclamations recognizing National Suicide Prevention and Action Month and Hispanic Heritage Month.
Board members did not request further public hearings or additional votes on these items at the meeting; implementation steps such as final site selection for EV chargers and contractual performance details will be handled by staff under the authorized agreements.
