Historic Preservation Commission selects leadership, begins planning for 2026 Preservation Day

The Boulder City Historic Preservation Commission reselected leadership and began preliminary planning for Historic Preservation Day 2026 at its Sept. 24 meeting.
Staff explained the nomination and selection process for chair and vice chair; with Davenport nominated and unopposed, the commission approved her as chair by acclamation. Krista May was selected as vice chair, also by acclamation. Staff said the packet included a timeline for Preservation Day tasks and asked the commission to confirm the nomination flyer format and to propose a theme for next month’s meeting.
Commissioners discussed outreach and education goals. Staff noted a request from the Henderson Historic Preservation Society to explore partnership opportunities. The commission agreed to continue the existing flyer design with updated dates and to gather theme suggestions ahead of the next meeting.
Other housekeeping included updates on commission goals and a regular monthly report on properties and potential eligible sites within the historic district. Commissioners asked to add discussion of a "Hotel Row/Hotel Corridor" to the agenda for the next meeting.
The meeting concluded with an extended final public comment period and adjournment.
