High-school students urge council to join Shift Justice Week and support counselors

Jack Baker, also a junior and a Shift fellow, described how school counselors helped him through mental-health struggles and urged officials to address counselor staffing: he cited the Colorado Department of Education’s counselor-to-student ratio and referenced statistics from the Colorado Health Institute on barriers to therapy.
Both students framed their request as an ask for engagement and attendance at scheduled events rather than a specific council action; no motion or vote followed.
