UW Extension updates: new administrative assistant, regional crops educator, and ongoing community programming

Summary
UW Extension staff announced a new full‑time administrative assistant, a regional crops educator starting April 20, and ongoing 4‑H, health and well‑being, and community events; staff detailed cross‑county coverage and upcoming workshops.
Director Wagner told the committee that Pam Whitaker joined the UW Extension office as a full‑time administrative assistant two weeks ago and that a regional crops educator will begin April 20 to cover Green Lake, Washara, Adams and Portage counties. Wagner said Yesenia Meza remains in a grant-funded position through the end of the year and that Adam Hartfield (ag/livestock educator) will return from paternity leave in April and is co‑hosting a youth workshop on April 11 focused on beef programming.
Wagner highlighted continuing 4‑H after‑school programming and a June camp serving third‑through‑sixth graders; extension staff also continue work on health and well‑being programming, including partnerships addressing mental health and child‑care resources. "She's been networking a lot with folks across this county and neighboring counties," Wagner said of staff working in the community health worker grant role.
Wagner said extension staff are consolidating office space into the southwest corner of the library community center so aging staff can be together in one space. Committee members welcomed Whitaker and briefly introduced themselves.
No formal action was required; the committee received the report.
