Presenter (speaker 1) told the board the transfer would fund concessions, a new West Third grand entry, a gathering plaza and restrooms, and said subcontractor bids have come in and early indications show the project ‘‘is on budget’’ while cautioning that figures are still projections. "The board votes tonight to transfer $7,200,000 or consider, transferring $7,200,000 from the general fund to the construction of the South side of the K 12 Athletic Complex," the presenter said during announcements.
At the construction agenda item the board considered six recommendations tied to the south-side work, including contract addendums for firms listed on the agenda, a sidewalk easement, and the termination of existing telecommunications leases to allow consolidation of cell and tower equipment onto a single monopole. The chair moved the recommendations, a board member seconded, and the roll call returned ayes from the listed members; the motion carried.
Treasurer Beth (speaker 6) later explained the timing of fund transfers in response to a question about a year-over-year drop in the general fund: she said a June transfer of $7,200,000 accounts for the biggest difference on the fiscal-year comparison and noted a tax settlement delay had also affected collections.
The board was briefed that the district will still need local planning approvals for final design elements: the presenter said the City of Grandview Heights Planning Commission will review the south-side design at upcoming meetings. No additional project funding decisions were announced beyond the approved transfer and contract addenda.
The board did not amend the voted motion and directed staff to proceed with the approved items; the construction approvals and transfer were recorded by roll call vote as approved.
