Monroe Local board approves auditorium renovation, roadwork and several vendor contracts

The Monroe Local School Board approved a package of contracts and memberships on motions carried at its regular meeting, advancing an auditorium renovation, campus access improvements and related services.
Board members voted to approve a design‑build services contract with Prodigy for phase 1 of the auditorium renovation. Administration said the project will proceed in two phases to account for long lead times and to complete remaining work next summer. "We decided to do a 2 phase approach," administration said, describing the schedule and sequencing.
The board also approved a three‑year agreement with ESP Media for the district athletic website; leadership described the site as a substantial upgrade for celebrating and communicating athletics. Trustees approved a contract with Majors for surveying services tied to a new secondary drive and a separate Majors contract for tree removal associated with the same project. Officials said tree removal and related site work are already underway and that much of the material was mulched to save costs.
In coordination with the new drive, the board approved engineering services for turn‑lane improvements at Yankee Road and State Route 63. Administration said the design supports the access changes being planned for the campus.
The board also approved a contract with the Warren County Educational Service Center to place one student in its wellness center for the remainder of the school year, and voted to join the Ohio Purchasing Council (a council of governments under Chapter 167 of the Ohio Revised Code) to help secure better pricing for construction projects.
All motions were moved, seconded and carried on roll call during the meeting. The board scheduled no additional votes on these items at this session; policy revisions mentioned later were only presented as a first reading.
The district said work on the auditorium and the new drive is expected to continue through the coming construction season; the board did not set a specific completion date for those projects.
